I have a TN-26 (1950 5hp). Could someone tell me what gap the points should be set at on this motor? Thanks

.020" But first take them apart and clean each contact individually. Do one set at a time so you have a sample to aid in reassembly. Watch all those little insulators and don't lose anything. Clean everything with electrical cleaner spray from the auto parts store. Clean the contacts with some 400 grit wet-or-dry sandpaper. Try to keep them flat, but you won't succeed. The result will be slightly convex surfaces. That's great and just what you want. The push rod goes with the rounded end against the point arm, not what you would expect.

Okay, heres the bad news. I thought it was .020, so earlier today i went ahead and cleaned/gapped the points. Now i have no fire. I know i did everything properly but something must have went hay-wire. Any ideas?

Probably dirty. Scrunching around it here with the feeler gage smeared the crud around and they are not making good electrical contact. That's why I said to clean them right to begin with.

Edit: You put the magnet back in right side up?

The magnet is right side up and (like i said) the points have been cleaned extensively with electrical parts cleaner.
