Hi everyone,

I'm a newbie to boats and outboard engines (and this forum :), after messing around for so long on friend's vessels I've taken the plunge and got myself a little speedboat.

Apologies for incorrect terminology etc. Any corrections and pointers gratefully received ;-)

The outboard is a Johnson 60 vro with power tilt and trim.

After Several outings I've noticed that there is now free movement fore and aft of about an inch of the engine and leg, it appears to be centred around a point just below the engine.

I've attached a photo with the area of movement circled and arrowed.

I'm struggling to find where the problem is, the Selok manual I have doesn't seem to cover that part of the mounting.

I'm very reluctant to use the boat in this condition so am consigned to dry land :-(

Thanks in advance for any advice

Jason

If the engine actually moves back and forth at that point rather than at the lower motor mount area, I would assume that the upper motor mount is faulty.

You'll need to remove the powerhead to gain access to it.

ditto, and the lower mounts arent far behind ,especially with added wear and tear because of the top, also shifting problems often occur due to the pressure on the shift shaft

Is it truly a "speedboat"? As in "race" boat? Check with your dealer and see if heavy duty mounts are recommended.
