johnson 60hp loop charged??

I found a 60hp johnson "loop charged" motor that I was considering putting on my boat. I have right now a 83' 50hp johnson that does fine, but the boat is rated for 60hp so I figure why not. Couple of questions, what is loop charged? Will I notice the 10 hp increase, mine is a 2 cyl., this looper is a 3 cyl.? is the extra weight worth 10 hp?

Your 50 is loop charged also. It is just a better way of getting the fuel/air mixture into the cylinders.

Yes there will be considerably more power with the 60.

What year is the 60---I'm assuming 1970-71? Given a choice, I would much prefer the 50 over the 1970-71 60hp. It is a whole lot better motor. 'Nuff said.

I am not sure of the year, but it is a real light blue color, with a black sticker on the cover that says Johnson in white letters inside the black sticker. By looking at it, it looks like my 83', maybe newer. From the pics it looks really clean, almost like new, and i can get it for less than $500. what do you say?

ok, i just received an email from the owner. It is a 1970 johnson 60 hp, model 60ESL70B. It is blue and looks new because he bought it from a guy who owns an auto dealership who painted it. he says it has 125-130 psi on all cylinders, and runs good on muffs, but he has never had it on the water. He says he bought the boat/motor combo and is putting a 90hp on instead of the 60 hp.
