johnson 7.5 No spark !!!

Hello i just bought my first gas powerd motor . well she has no spark .year is 1982 #217-5949-0 chassis #3b19855 . Looks like some one replaced the pick up under the flywheel / rotor because there was a unit sitting in a bag in the motor compartment . new plug so I am guessing its a coil how can i test it and were can I buy one . thank you B.B
