Ok, I have spark on both cylinders. The problem was I had no clue of setting the timing. I had no clue that they operated in line with the pistons. I know that is a big rookie mistake, and I know it is common sense. I figured it out though. So I set the points to open to about .020 - .025 ish as the cylinder is at the top on each individual cylinder. I used the key to set this.
I made a mistake though, over tightened the wobble screw that adjusts the timing on one of the points. It broke off in the threads. So what I did is just put the feeler guage in there and then tightened the main screw and it holds, but now its just a bit tougher to fine tune that point. is there a way I can re-thread that hole? Will it be effective without the wobble screw, it seems to be ok with just the base screw. I dont mind setting it without the wobble screw, but I was just wondering if it would be ok.
I do have a spark on both cylinders though, and thats a good thing. I just didnt understand the concept of "setting the points" initially.
I appreciate all your help guys...now i just have to put the motor back together and try it out.
