Johnson 9.9 green/white location of serial number?

Hi folks,

I am trying to determine the year of my newly acquired 9.9 Johnson. I have found many sources for determining the year by serial number, but I can't seem to find a serial number on it? There is a plate on the side of the part that clamps the engine to the boat, but it is blank?

If the plate on the transom bracket is still there, someone may have turned it upside down.

Look on the engine block for a nickel sized convex aluminum disk with numbers stamped on it.
