Johnson 90 hard starting and lack of power

I have a johnson 90 v4 1996.It will start if i squirt mixed fuel in carbs.After started and running on water not all cylenders are firing all the time,in and out.This motor has been sitting for acouple years.

Sounds like it's all jacked up.<br /><br />At least needs a "REAL" carb cleaning, but check and make sure the fuel is getting to the carb well.<br /><br />Also make sure you have the cold start procedure down and understand how to choke the motor.<br /><br />It's not bad mechanics process to go from there and also do a compression check to determine the soundness of internals.<br /><br />Then after going over those essentials if drivabilities still exist start running electronics diagnosis.

I would start with a new gas line and bulb. Any air leaks could cause problems.

good avise already given. if the motor was "put-up" with fuel in the carbs, chances are that you'll need to remove the carbs and service them. old gas would have "varnished" and clogged the jets and orafices.<br /><br />let us know what you find<br /><br />Good Luck
