Johnson 90 HP Pinion Shim Gauge

Would anybody know the length of the input shaft pinion shim gauge for an 88 johnson 90 hp lower unit? as the lower unit I'AM working on is a mixture of parts and the rebuilder installed the wrong pimion gear, hence I have ordered the proper gear set and would like to start at the gauge length so I can check the tooth pattern. the OMC gauge is too expensive for a one time repair. thanks
