Johnson 90 V4 charging issue.

I have a 1991 johnson v4 90. The issue was that my tacho wouldnt always work I'm not sure whether my charging system is working properly. The battery had 12.7V before starting. I started the motor on flushing muffs and let it idle for 3 minutes. It went up to 13.1. does this sound right?

Sounds OK. Get a voltmeter on the dash to get an idea of what the charge output is when running at speed. Look for about 13.9 volts.

Thanks for the response mate, I have a volt meter already just havent been able to take the boat out yet. Thanks for that, I'll definitely monitor it when I go out
