Johnson '93' 115 timing question?

I need to set the timing on my 93 v4 90degree 115hp. In my seloc manual, it says to adjust the timing at wot to 28degrees and idle to 3 degrees. It appears that both adjustments are done at the same thumb wheel. my qyestion is can i set idle timing to spec and be fine on my wot timing? The reason im wondering is because i dont have a test wheel or body of water near by to test the wot timing.

I believe your idle timing is set with a combination of the timer base stop screw on the port side of the motor kinda tucked up under the flywheel and the throttle stop screw on the linkgae on the starboard side. You max advance timer stop is in the starboard side. When you start messing with these you really need a manual and do a complete link & sync. The timer base should move freely with the throttle linkage so that part should not be a problem.

Im not sure what screw that would be, the manual does not mention a screw on the timer base. And it does not show a picture. This motor is a 90degree v4 and is not the optical ignition.

Its not om the timer base itself. Its on a bracket that is bolted to the top cap of the powerhead. Look at the timer base while you move it its full travel and see what stops it in both directions. Should be a horizontal screw with a rubber tip and a lock nut. There will be one for each direction movement of the timer base.
