Well I got cut off while typing in the other forum, but my suggestion would be to leave it to somebody who has lots a money to keep that outdrive operational...

Re: Johnson boat question/outdrive

Thanks everyone for the advice/thoughts. Mike, don't really know a good reason why I would want that boat, but I'm sure it would be a good cure for boredom as it would probably require a lot of attention. I never knew that Johnson had manufactured boats in the past. Dunaruna, I enjoyed looking at the sight and a novel piece of boating history - Thanks! Walleyehed, I think I will follow your advice...

Yep, that drive looks to be electric shift... some of those parts are slowly turning up NLA (no longer available). Even used prices on Ebay are going through the roof.

At the current bid of $205 it's $500 overpriced ;)

The boat went for $329.00....or $624.00 overpriced according to standard bomar 76 accounting/appraisal procedures..hehe.

Any guesses as to how fast that 350 will push that old tri-hull? 40 MPH?

Assuming it ran and moved (not likely) not fast enough to avoid the water cops and the reaming you'd get for using dry headers in an enclosed engine compartment....bet everything else on that tub's engine was non marine too
