Did Johnson make their own line of Runabouts AND trailers? I know that OMC made several boats that were essentially Tri-hulls later purchased by Chris-Craft but I am looking at a conventional hull runabout (dashboard, wrap around windshield, deck with horns and lights etc, deep V hull. The boat is sitting on a Johnson Trailer. Am I in LALA land or did this boat and trailer actually get made by Johnnson?

Probably made by Johnson. They made the Surfer and a few other models. They were branded as OMC, Johnson or Evinrude. The Surfer is pretty cool (I think there's a restoration thread on here for one) and the Evinrude Sportsman are kinda' neato too.

Yes there were Johnson boats and Evinrude boats...... short lived and long gone.

No it is not a johnson boat or trailer! It is a bucket of rust for a trailer and the boat is growing green plants inside it. I passed on the boat and trailer and bought the motor and controls from the guy, I now have another project motor. It is a 1959 35 HP evinrude remote (model #35517). It has the junction box intact and in very good shape but the controls are a little rough from sitting out in the weather. The gear selector refuses to move (on the control, not the motor) and the round knob no longer threads onto the shift arm. but it is all there and complete! Should shine up real nice and be a pretty vintage motor...now to find the right hull foor it.
