I have a 97 Johnson 25 ER that boggs down after it is running for a little while. I check fuel filter, gas line and tank(which is self venting. The motor is like brand new and sat for a while. Is there any carb cleaner I should try or is it something else?

Try squeezing primer bulb when engine starts to die. If it picks back up, it might be your fuel pump. As far as carburetor cleaner goes, you should remove the carburetor, disassemble, and clean it thoroughly.
Has it shown signs of overheating? If it runs a few minutes and then dies, it might be overheating. Next time it dies, remove the cover and touch the cylinder head with your fingers. If your skin starts to burn off of your fingertips, it's an overheat problem. :)

I have tried that and it doesn't seem to help. It does pick up when I push in the choke. After awhile it stalls. I start her back up and rev it up and it's seems to run fine for awhile. That is what makes me think its a fuel issue.

It wouldn't hurt to try the carb cleaner, Seafoam, before removing carb.
It can be purchased at most automotive parts houses. It can be used on a concentrated basis while the engine is running or added to your fuel as a part of your maintenance routine.

After sitting for awhile does it run OK then do the same thing?

Re: Johnson bogging down

I bought some Carb medic spray and spray some into the intake and it seems to be running better. I think I need to do it again, is too much spraying into the carb bad for the motor. It seems to be cleaning it's self out.
