You are probably running on two or three cylinders. You will need to run a spark test and a compression test first.

Don't run the engine over 1500 RPM without a load.

Re: johnson bogging down

i recently changed all four plugs, gapped @ 30 supposed to be 40
could this cause a fllooding out condition, dont think it would????
let me take a step back, maybe this will help, this engine has the
primer solenoid, the line going to the block had come off, however
both lines to carbs were fine, in order to re-attach this line, the upper
carb was loosened and removed, a new line was then installed,
gasket was saved, no rips or tears, it was after this engine ran poorly, ran great, with old champion plugs, even though that line was broken off at the time, any help??????

I would pull the same carb off again and inspect the gasket seal again, and since you have it off disasseble and inspect the carb. No matter how low the hours it is still an 11 yr old motor. Have the carbs recently been soaked and cleaned?

Re: johnson bogging down

problem solved, carb linkage came off top carb, we always think the worst, if you fix something, go back over it again and again, my mistake
