So I have a Johnson command center that controls a 1976 70 HP Outboard. The throttle handle would not budge so I ordered replacement cables one for the throttle and one for the shifter since I was going to be taking it all apart to fix said issue. However, to my displeasure the neutral safety switch inside the control was broken ( PN 0385659) and there is not one to be found nor is there an aftermarket replacement for it. So is it possible to by pass this and make this control center work. After market replace controls are 180- 220 plus i would need to purchase and adapter to fit a 76 Johnson at another 320.00. These 2 pieces together cost more that i gave for the entire boat motor and trailer. So if a bypass is possible can someone elaborate on the procedure?

It is easy to bypass the neutral safety switch. Simply connect the two wires together. The motor will now start in gear, at any throttle setting.

The danger is that it will start at full throttle and cause injury. Why not replace the control? ebay should have something.
