Johnson Controls No High Idle

I just bought a 60 hp johnny runs good but whenn starting cold the idle lever on the controls box is broken causing starting difficult. Is there a piece in the controls that can come of track or break.Is opening the control box pretty easy and is this a common problem???

Joe, "Splitting" the contol box is easy. It will have to be dismounted from the boat first.<br /><br />Open it up and have a look.

Its easy but you have to take the bolt out of the back side of the control arm and knock the arm out with a punch first or it will never come apart.
