I have a 1980 115 HP Johnson O/B that has a scored cylinder. Can I replace the cylinder sleeve or must I have it bored? If the cylinder sleeve can be replaced, how is it held in? There isn't a retainer on top of sleeve. Does the sleeve have to be pressed in and out or does the cylinder head hold it in place?

If the cylinder is scored too badly to bore then you can have the motor resleeved. Any good marine machine shop can do it. OMC pistons go to .030 oversize and Wiseco has .044 and .064 oversize available. Be sure to get the new style Wiseco 3073 series not the old 3013 series. The important thing is to determine why it scored a piston so it won't happen again.
