What a cold blooded creature !!!
I finally got it running... My concern is, it makes an intermediate clunkity, clunk, clunk noise. Is this normal???

Yeah. Dang noisy buggers! You'd think they're shaking themselves apart. I think what you're hearing is where the powerhead is coupled to the drive. Noise pretty much at idle? They smooth out under load in the water. Make sure your gearlube is full.

You'll see a yellow fill plug a few inches under the carbs. Lube should be visible up to the bottom of the threads.

Mine does the same thing... sounds like a grinder - especially when running it on the trailer. In the water, its better, but it clunks every now and then at low RPM. It's really embarrasing, but I can't find anything "wrong" per se. Sounds fine (albeit loud) at higher RPM's, so I've pretty much given up on chasing the noise down.

On mine, the clunks go away if you pull the impeller assembly off - you still get gear noise, but no clunks. I've replaced the impeller housing and the bearings - so I know nothing is wrong with the assembly- the "clunk" seems to be the splined adapter sliding back and forth on the shaft between the transmission and the impeller.

If you figure any more out, please let me know.

Kent
