Well I didn't take more pics of the original motor but I have some of another 90hp I picked up last night from a guy selling an older boat and motor. He was willing to part with just the motor so I went and had a look and was pleasantly surprised. 120 compression on all 4 cylinders, it's a lot cleaner than the motor my boat came with and has more complete wiring as well. '81 Johnson 90hp, even a lot of the parts are interchangeable except for the carbs, since my lower unit is a 90hp on the original motor. We started it up and it ran, there's a bad coil and the PO said after it idles for about 10 mins, the port side is fairly cool but the starboard side gets pretty hot so I'll do a thermostat change out before anything else, and swap out the bad coil as well:
J90TLCIM is the model number.

Good shot with the tilt/trim visible

Even has most of the stickers...

I'm hoping if there's been heat issues, the block/power head doesn't have
any cracks, but the price was right...

No way is that a J140TXCOS, a J140TXCOS is a looper.

You are looking at a crossflow 140 engine; look at the pistons.

It's def. a crossflow, I was going off of a coil part number cross reference. Coils on the motor are part number 0582508, cross reference is 1985 and on ignition coil, though it totally would not surprise me if it's the wrong part for this motor. At least the 90hp has all the correct part numbers on it.
