Re: johnson faststrike 150 problems
Up until recently I owned a 1996 115HP (V4)Faststrike. I say up until recently because now the motor is sitting at the wreckers due to a problem inherent with this particular model of motor. The first sign of the problem was exactly as you have described with your motor (ie running like a charm most of the time, dropping revs etc).

The problem surrounds the exhaust "u-tube" or I think the proper name is "exhaust tube inner". Instead of seand a burst of pure exhaust back into the engine as per design, a small amount of water settles at the lowest point of the tube and when the hot exhaust hits it, the result is a burst of exhaust / steam shooting into the powerhead. This causes condensation (water) to build up in my case in #4 cylinder. My motor had less than 170 hours on it and the repair bill was in excess of $7,000 (AUS), hence the retirement to the wreckers.

OMC or Bombardier whatever they call themselves were only too happy to offer absouletly no help at all. This may not apply to your motor, but it would be worth a look.
