UPDATE: So I woke up this morning and decided to drive the two hours back to the shop to see if maybe I could get lucky and see my cowl cover in at least one piece for me to put back together. About 15 miles from the shop I found it on the side of the road on a stretch of road that is very low traveled. It has a few chips but that is all...whew
I have a 1964 18hp Johnson model FD-18E. First I would love to know what the 'E' stands for. Second and most important, I am now in the need for a motor cover. I just lost mine somewhere along the 2 hour drive home from my shop after working hard on my engine and boat in preparation for fishing tomorrow.
I have done some reading and from what I understand this engine is the same as the 20, 25 and 35 hp models with the exception of the intake and carb, can someone confirm or deny this? Obviously if this is the case I am very interested in moving on up to a 25 or 35 carb for the ever elusive horsepower increase.
I have read this forum many times and actually had registered a long time ago but for the life of me cannot remember my info...so starting fresh again.
Thank you for your time
