One pic you can see the two pins are equal in length so probably not a problem there but the other pic, the connection is not snug. Should it be a closer fit? It doesn't leak fuel but could it be leaking air? Brand new fitting on the fuel line.

I wouldn’t think so. Those connections seem to have a little play. What kinda problems are you having?

I repaired many of those housings.----Usually one pin / valve sticks out further than the other.-----Means one of the O-rings is damaged.----- Or both in your housing perhaps.-------Elegantly easy to replace those o-rings on the 2 valves.----And no the connecter does not need to be right snug.

They actually sell repair kits for those type connections on the tank. But usually it is merely a couple "O" rings and on some kits they don't include the welch plugs or the "O" ring at the front section of the connection. If you look at the flat side of the connector I call it the front, there is a cap over the outside push pin that the other one doesn't have. There is an "O" ring behind that penned over cap. It is a very snug longer "O" ring that seals fuel from leaking out of it. Other then that, there isn't much more to them. The springs are usually good but some repair kits include new ones with the two "O" rings. I haven't seen the third "O" ring with any kit that I have seen though. JMHO
