Hello everyone, I have a 1982 Johnson 175hp 2 stroke O/B and I and getting some new teleflex eclipse series gauges for it. Im wondering out of this list which gauges will work when hooked up with this O/B.

1. Water Temp Gauge 0-240? (does this just let you know if the impeller is burning up? if so what temp should it be?)
2. Tachometer 0-7000RPM
3. Teleflex Eclipse Water Pressure (Although I dont know what this does)
4. Teleflex Eclipse Water O/B Temperature Gauge Kit

I'm already getting the fuel one and the speedo.
Any other suggestions?

And if you reccomend 1 through 4 can you instruct on how to hook these other ones up (where is the sender on the engine?)

Thanks so much enjoy the weekend, Ramsey!

Your overheat horn will sound when the water temp gets to 212 degrees. It will silence when the temp gets back down to 175. The engine should normally run between 143 and about 155. Anything much higher could be the sign of a problem. A water pressure gauge should be a 0-30 lbs scale. Your engine may run up to around 20 lbs water pressure at WOT. The temp gauge requires a special sender. The factory did not put a temp sender on the engine when it was new. Make sure the sender you purchase is compatible with the gauge you purchased or it may not read correctly. You will have to acquire or make a special "Z" bracket to mount the sender onto one of the heads.

Hello and thanks so much for responding. How do I even know if my overheat horn sound works or where is it even at?

I wont get a temp gauge if it is alot of extra stuff to buy (but do you know where I could find that special sender part just so I could check it out, and do you think its worth it?).

How about the water pressure gauge does this require any special add ons? If not how does it get hooked up? What does WOT mean?

Thanks so much, ramzzey13 have a great day!

Most marine dealerships sell inexpensive gauges for your boat. Teleflex makes some good ones. Your local dealer should have a marine parts catalog which will show you the ones commonly available. Most guages come with hookup instructions in he package. You'll need a 0-30 lb water pressure guage.
