Johnson GT 150 Lower unit linkage

i just put a new inpeller in my motor put everything back together and the only trouble that i am having is the shifting in forward and reverse, i am sure that when me and dad took the lower unit off we did not move the shifting rod i have tried adjusting the cable but it still shifts like crap.

shift manually at the motor, and see if it works. you have to turn the prop when shifting.
