Re: JOHNSON GT150 LOWER UNIT

Phil Hill,
I highly recommend a service manual if you are to perform this work.I beleive there are six(6) bolts to be removed. Also, before removing all the bolts and dropping the L/U.Put the shifter(control box) into forward.Disconnect and remove the shift rod bolt from the linkage under the cowl(located at front bottom below bottom carb). Then, remove the L/U bolts and drop.
:)

Re: JOHNSON GT150 LOWER UNIT

First off phil, If lower unit joint is separated and has dropped down a bit pull it back up with a couple of bolts. Now, the fun begins. First attempt visual contact of shift rod pin bolt.It will be located under lower carb area Trace shift linkage to it.In some cases removal of intake box or even lower carb will be required as placement of these is like two pounds of hockey in a one pound bag.A little patience and some choice words should get the job done.I know you indicated all bolts had been removed however, I'll say anyways.Assure ALL bolts are removed.I think there's one in a recess under trim tab.
