johnson javelin 100 hp

i have just purchased a johnson javelin 100 hp...what is hte story between javelin and a reg johnson?

It's kind of a performance/consumer motor. There was also the 75 Stinger.

sorry, i am not sure exactly what you mean. is it an promotional motor? high performance? something like that...is it a good motor?

Nah, just advertizing hoopla. In fact, weren't all 100 hp Johnsons called Javelins that year? I'd have to check.

in 1980, and maybe 79 the 100 was called Javelin but in 1977 and 78 the 85hp was called Javelin

Just fancy decals. And Javelin V4s came standard with PT&T. There were standard 85s and 100s offered alongside the "deluxe" Javelins over those years and they did not have PT&T offered as standard.

The Javelin name was recycled from the 1956 & 1957 model years when it was used on the 30 and 35 hp deluxe models...
