Johnson Javelin 85 HP 1977 Information Please

I have been given a 85HP 1977 Johnson Javelin Motor.<br />We are looking for any information on them i.e Pictures , write ups , Specifications.<br />Have been searching the net for hours and have found nothing.<br />Have already ordered a manual.<br />Thanks for your help.We are going to restore the motor to look like new.<br />Anything that you may have would be of Great HELP<br />Regards NICK & SUE

These old v4s were a very solid engine, I ran an Evenrude of the same vintage WOT on a Bass boat for two years and it had a zillion hours on it when I bought it. Only thing I ever did was new spark plugs when I bought it, a water pump and had one coil go out. Great winter project, will make you a great engine if it was taken care of at all. Just take a compression test before you start to make sure its worth putting money into. The compression should not be any more than 10% apart from each other
