Somebody in the neighborhood left out a Johnson LD-12A 5hp (1967 I think). I took it home, and after some carb cleaning and new needle valve and seat it runs pretty good.

It needs a new prop, and for the life of me, I can't get it off. It is on a threaded drive shaft - there was a nut that came off easily, and it appears the prop should unscrew as well but I can't get it to move. I've used pb blaster and heat but it won't budge. Maybe it's hopelessly stuck.

Anybody have any experience with this motor? btw - it is a direct drive motor - no reverse or neutral. And does anyone know where I can get a prop?

Thanks

That would be a left hand prop.----Not a common item.---The prop is NOT threaded.-----Your location ?.

That’s my motor and it was free for the taking😂
Sorry had to try and scare ya.
My neighbor was mowing his lawn one day and left the mower by the side of the road while he went a got drink. Came back and it was gone.
I believe you have shear/ drive pin in the prop. May need a little persuasion but in theory it will slide off.
Matt go help this out

They just slide off where I am.----Used in salt water ??----If yes there could be corrosion.

Thanks gentlemen. I'll try to slide it off. Doesn't appear to have been used in saltwater.

I finally got it off with a gear puller. The inside of the prop appears to be tapered, and it fits over a non-taper cylinder that looks like some kind of hard rubber.

Sounds like the prop itself came apart.-----Props are assembled.----They are not 1 piece.
