hello all i'm wondering where i might find a complete starter assy. for a johnson
outboard my late hubby must have taken it off i can't find it any where. flywheel
has teeth so i think it had a starer once. i would appreciate any ideas. thanks robin

when the mount broke on mine(it had already been welded back once before) i got a new(used) one with a starter on ebay for very cheap.

hello tjl76evenrude did or do you have the same model,? if so could you show me a picture of the starter in place. and thankyou for your service,my son was a marine you probably floated him somewhere at one time.

The "R" in the model number means Rope start. In other words, it was not electric start, unless a kit was added. If I'm not mistaken, they all had teeth on the flywheel (so you could add a kit).

no my motor is a different model. you can probably add a starter though if you find the right one.

Oh and i cannot take credit for any military service, the titles under the names are representative of your post count on the board.
