Hi

After overheating my outboard i just looked at where the oil was steaming out from but don't know what its called?

between the heads directly under the flywheel at the back of the engine is a unit that looks like a box with wires coming out of it, the top of it is cracked and oil is seeping out.

any ideas???

What model Johnson do you have? We can't really answer a lot of questions if we don't know what you're talking about. Johnson outboards were made since 1922, in dozens and dozens of models.

Look for a tag near the transom mount and tell us your model number.
