Hi, I have a word of warning for anyone with a Johnsonrude with the Speed Limiting Overheat Warning. Before your dealer cons you into getting a new CDI box because your engine is overheating, try disconnecting the temperature switch from the head and take it out for a run. If this gives you back full throttle, then you just need a new temperature switch which is about 1/4 the cost of the CDI box. I overheated mine a few years ago because I blew the water pump impeller and was told that the CDI box goes into overheat mode and the only cure was a new CDI box. Valid information is the enemy of the slick sales pitch!

If so equipped, The S.L.O.W. will limit the engine rpms to 2500 when the temp sensor detects overheat.
