I was tracing some wiring issues on my 1990 j100STLESB GT 100 this weekend and needed to open the remote control. It's well greased and everything stayed in place nicely in both halves while I fixed the issue at hand. When I reassembled the remote, I noticed that there was a small steel ball bearing at the bottom of the case rolling around, looks like a checkball maybe 3-4mm in diameter. I have no idea where it came from and while I have the FACTORY manual recommended by the users on this board, I cannot find where it may have come from. The remote functions normally on the water and I'm not sure if it belongs in there or not. Anyone know if this belongs in here?

I couldn't locate a picture but found one on here and my apologies to the OP of that thread for stealing his picture:

A "ball bearing" detent would be used in a older type control box such as this 1973 model. See part number 30.
