Howdy,

I'm a glutton for punishment but I just love old boats and old boat motors.

Recently acquired an old 15' Glasspar Avalon (81505), great lines on these little boats! I am going through the boat getting everything in order and while I am waiting for my manuals to come in the mail I need a little help on the throttle control cable.

The motor is a Johnson Super Sea Horse Electramatic and has the Electramatic control box as well. The Throttle cable had a kink in it and the previous owner tried to straighten it out but looks to be damaged.

Model # RK-24L
Serial # 2309761

Anyone know what length & type cable this little gem takes.

Thanks:confused:

Re: Johnson RK-24L control cable questions

I believe that the cable that is in there is a bit long...

There is about 4' of slack. The control cable is shoved up under the gunwale on the starboard side and there is an overly long loop of cable between the motor and where the cable comes out of the starboard side motor well. Where should I measure from/too? Back of the control along the starboard side the over to the motor? How much slack should the cable have, enough to turn the motor?

Thanks in advance
