Johnson Sea Horse 60hp..No spark

I have a Sea Horse Model VXL11A Serial: J2600644. Was running like a champ, then out of the blue sounded like it was lacking fuel, then died. After returning to shore, spark plugs were changed, basic checks were made. But still not getting any spark. Rolls over good, compression good, ect... What could be the problem?

That's an oldie with a belt driven magneto hanging on the back.<br /><br />remove the wire from the magneto to the engine harness and crank it over to check for spark. If none, then you have to check the coil, points, condensor, rotor, and cap. If it sparks, then you have a shorted "kill wire" somewhere in the system or a bad key switch.
