Johnson sea king td 20 5 HP problem

The motor quits running when putting the throttle setting on slow when its just below start. it will just be used on a small Jon for fishing will it affect top speed and does it need to be fixed if so how. Thanks

probably needs the high speed and idle speed adjustment screws set. Have you cleaned the carb?

Yeah carb has been cleaned and has a new float. Next time I have a chance I will check the adjustment screws . Thanks for the help

Also where are the screws located I have no experience with outboards and could not find it on the diagrams.

One screw is right on top the silver dial with the numbers. The low speed screw is underneath behind the lower shroud.

On front of the motor, behind shroud, is a hole with a pipe going to it. Also going to it is a needle valve with a "L" handle. That is the slow speed adjustment. Open it 5/8 turn and adjust from there at idle speed. It is very sensitive, so don't be twirling it.

I was at an auction in Virginia and purchased two Sea King outboard. They appear to be in running condition even though they have been in a warehouse for the past 50 years. One motor is single cylinder model 64EA 90020 the other motor is twin cylinder. Have no idea what year they were made.. I was unable to post pictures,
