The fuel ratio that I referred to was given to me by Joe Reeves and others on
www.marineengines.com when I was sourcing parts to convert my 18 to a single fuel line. I was pleasantly surprised since I intend to use it as a trolling motor and could use a single fuel supply. Since my original reply to your thread, I have gotten advice that ranges from 16:1 (since some oil is good, more is better

) 24:1 that's what OMC said in 1958) 40:1 fouls plugs less, smokes less, etc) 50:1 since the modern 2 cycle oils are so much more developed than the oil available in the day). Opinions on fuel ratios are much like bung holes, everyone has one. When in doubt, go to the default. If something happens to the motor, you will be comforted to know it was not the fuel.
