I was given a Johnson Seahorse motor the other day. The model is a JW-12 and the serial no is 199092. In a box that I got with the motor was what seems to be most of another disassembled motor. There was a paper in with it that said Sea Witch. On the case are numbers S 52236 and 571.14. I do not know what I have and if anyone out there can help me I would really appreciate it. Thanks.

Re: Johnson Seahorse

Thanks ob for the info. The Johnson is in real nice shape. It has good compression and spark, so I'm sure it will run. I've never really had anything to do with boats, but I think I just might give it a try. The other motor doesn't seem to have an engine cover. I'll look at it a little closer. It does have a tillotson carb.

The 571.14 is a 41 3.5 hp.Built by Kissel(Formerly
an auto company) for Sears. Called Waterwitch.
A fairly common motor that may be fun to try to restore. You may be able to find help at The
Antique Outboard Motor Club at www.aomci.com.

A little more info here on that disassembled motor. The paper in the box said that it was a FW.837B and the serial no. is 087223. I could not however find a piece that had these numbers on it. The bore is 2 7/32 and the stroke is 2 1/4. The con rod is brass.
