Re: Johnson steering cable
Hi Lark

It is not the rigged looking set up. Neither does it appear to be hydraulic. It is a large (5/8") plastic cable looking affair. On the business end there is a metal tube nearly the size of the plastic covered cable. This tube connects to the motor. At the other end, the steering wheel is mated to a housing that I can only assume has a rack and pinion type movement. ???

Are these expensive to replace? Remember, at this point, it is not 100% necessary. Is there a better system available for similar costs?

After seeing a cable affair you described, I was willing to do this if the need/desire arose. I'd rather not after seeing what came on my brother's boat.

thanks
Billy Bob
