My trolling mtr blows the 20A fuse on my 12v battery when in 24v mode. The third time I tried it I lost med. speed.Have checked wiring, have rewired adaptor assembly, replaced 4 position selector switch. Is the arch arrestor the problem? Replaced motor last year. Does anyone have any ideas? Getting tired of buying parts for it. I am an electrician, but 12/24v DC systems are a totaly different animal.

Hi ya' ttowner....

First....the 20amp fuse ain't gitten it. Should be a 40amp. I got a 24volt and my bud got a 12/24 and we both use 40amp fuses or circuit breakers.

Second.....IMHO....ya' got one of the best TMs' made.

Jim

EDIT: JB will kill me if I don't offer the proper "WELCOME ABOARD IBOATS" gesture. :D :D

No kiddin'.....glad to have you with us! Check the place out...really neat.

I'll try some larger fuses. I've been using 20A fuses as long as I've had my boat(12yrs)without any problems. Buy the way, I have a manual for my 98'150HP Johnson outboard which is good. But it isn't much help for troubleshooting. I had trouble starting my outboard for the longest time. Got on this message board and foung out my manual/auto lever on the primer solenoid was in the wrong position. Couldn't find out anything about it in my manual. Starts like a charm now. Thanks to you guys on this message board.
Bob

Back to the trolling motor. Can someone tell me what device gives the trolling motor its six speeds? I know you can get 2 speeds from 12/24 but what about the other 4?
