I can't pull out the bearing casing, could anybody advise me;
I removed the four bolts, I have a big washer with two holes opposite the threads on the casing and screwed the bolts in at 30 n/m the casing won't move.
I am scared to tighten further not to break the thread in the casing. Is there any thing else I should do?

Most probably; I bought it second hand, and want it in better condition for the test run - change oil seals and inspect gears and bearings.
I have to open it - water in the oil.

Good I'll heat the outside with a hot air gun and try to hammer the washer out. I hope I won't break the casing; I broke one on another motor.
Will the hot air gun be sufficient or I should go for a torch?

I trimmed it out without damage, to see:eek:-rings gone and leaking, oil seals bad, tomorrow I'll inspect gears and bearings, replace what needed and will have an excellent rebuilt lower unit.
I am hesitating whether to change vrankshaft bearings as well, but will first finish with the lower unit, and then discuu the matter on the forum.
Thanks for the help, which was quite useful.
