Johnson VRO pump ?'s

I have a 1989 Evinrude GT150 and a 1997 johnson 90HP I was wondering if the VRO pumps are interchangeable.The GT 150 pump went out this week and I was wondering if I could swap them out.

Pumps built before 1998 are not interchangable due to spring rates and other internal differences, and anyway the fittings are different between those two pumps so they would not fit.

The '98 and later pumps were redesigned to be universal and had replaceable fittings to fit various engine models, plus all the parts are available for repair or rebuilding.
