Johnson Water Deflectors

Hi,
I am preparing to have my 1990 120HP Johnson looper (J120TLASB) rebored so I pop off the heads and notice that this motor has no water deflectors in it...and actually no seats in the passages for the deflectors to sit. My question is does this year even use deflectors? I dont think this motor has ever been apart and am kinda confused cause I thought they were supposed to have em. Anyone have any insight? :confused::confused::confused:
