I own a Johnson vro 140 serial number..j140txccmg7743101 and heres the problem... Motor ran fine last year this year she would only run with motor tilted all the way up ...Took to a shop and they said my floats were stuck in carb's so last week i went and bought 4 new carb repair kits the complete ones and installed all which i've done before on other motors without issues...We'll i still have the same problem, will only start with motor tilted all the way up and when it is running i can then drop in water but motor won't idle has to be run in neutral and throttle all the way up....Ok so here's my questions is there anyway to adjust those carbs? And if not what do you think could be wrong ...also my friend broke a plug wire i didn't have a new one yet but had one on the shelf i put on which is about 4 inches longer would that matter? Also could the plunger for the fuel be bad maybe sucking air through fuel lines ,this even i'm not sure of because i have a 5 hp motor next to this one that runs off same line and that one starts fine and runs fine. I also have checked all wires in and out for bad connections and such without finding anything...

Thanks In advance Brandon

you removed the welsh plugs when you serviced the carbs and cleaned all the ports. Also the bulb gets stiff when you pump it before you try to start it? A outboard will start with no back pressure on the exhaust on 2 cylinders where it likes all 4 to be firing when its in the water which is either a fuel or spark issue

remove air cover and look in carbs and see where fuel is leaking. also check the primer lever is in auto or you are pumping fuel into the intake and flooding the engine which is why when tilted back the fuel will run back out of the carb and allow the engine to start

I will but one more question is there a way to adjust these carbs? Is there a set screw or something i started it this morning engine down and in water and it runs but smokes ...It wont idle will only run reved up when i pull to idle it stalls but while running it shakes and runs bad..
