Hi guys,bit of help required.
I need to add a switch before starting this baby up after restoring the spark and a few other jobs.Having searched the threads to find conflicting advice.

On the loom I have which are 1 of each

Red + violet stripe
Black
Black + yellow stripe
Yellow + red stripe
Violet
Violet + white stripe
Brown
Grey

On the switch I have

1 threaded spade designated M
1 " " I
1 " " A/S
1 " " B
1 " " C

1 thread terminal " M

As I dont have a tacho or alarm I assume the grey and the brown will be redundant.

Please help me join the dots as I dont want to mess it up at this stage.

Many Thanks in advance.

Wrong Switch! DO NOT use that switch.

I think you'll find that the color "Violet" is actually "Purple".

Purchase an ignition switch that has six (6) terminals on the back of it, label as:

M - Magneto - raised tower type terminal (Black/Yellow)
M - Magneto - regular type terminal (Black)
C - Choke/Primer Solenoid (Purple/White)
A - Accessory (Purple)
B - Battery voltage lead (Red/Purple)
S - Starter Solenoid (Yellow/Red)

Gray = Tachometer sensor lead if tachometer is present.
Brown = NO idea...... Trace it to wherever it goes and let us know what's it connects to.

I didn't explain the switch to well. I have the one you mention so your advice is appreciated.
I have read that the brown wire is allocated for an alarm (perhaps engine overheat)
Many Thanks for your help and prompt reply.

Brown Wire Function:

That had slipped my mind..... What you are calling "Brown" is actually called "Tan", and yes, that would connect to a warning horn terminal that is closest to the horn's built in black ground wire. The other terminal of the horn would connect to the "A" (accessory) terminal of the ignition switch.
