jon boat repair cracked ribs

Hi all,

Im restoring a flat bottom 14 ft jon boat that has vertical cracks in both ribs just beyond the welds of the transom corner braces. I would greatly appreciate advice on the best way to repair this. Can I weld the cracks and all is good? Do I need to install a brace on each side that attachs to the back of the boat and the rib so that the crack is in between? The transom is holding up a 7.5 hp outboard that weighs about 65lbs.
