jump starting motor

i have a jump box i carry just incase... can you start these motors and then run them without a battery hooked up or will that damage something in the circuits ?

Magneto ignition does not need a battery to run, nor do Etec DI motors.

It depends on what engine you're speaking of. If the engine incorporates a alternator type charging system, running it without a battery will result in damage to that system.

its a johnson pro series 60 hp 1991..

Do Not run that engine without a battery. It does have an alternator charging system.

If you run the ETEC DI without the battery hooked up won't you screw up the charging system ?
