I'm installing a new controller when switching from a 65hp to 115hp motor. The quicksilver controller has a plug in the front of the controller that has a jumper wire connecting two of the pins together. The wire came off and now I'm wondering which pins it goes on. Isni't this the tach connector? I'm wondering why someone would need to jumper two pins together.

Re: jumper wire on quicksilver controls

I am with you. Those three connections are +12VDC, Ground and Tach Signal. Connect +12VDC and ground, and you have a fire. Connect Tach signal to ground and the motor won't charge well. Connect +12VDC to Tach signal, and I am not sure what would happen.

I recommend you verify the connections are as outlined. Maybe he bypassed the neutral safety switch, or he had to bypass the Accessory power on the ign switch or something.
