I kind of like the flag idea but instead of whoever wins but whichever team finishes higher than the other. I'm speaking of U.S and Canada of course. Just in case either team goes to the finals.

.....ahhh, mid-day Boxing day....nothing better than the first game and tomorrow it be Canada vs. Russia. Should be a great game.
I have to lean towards Canada recouping the title to be quite honest mostly due to the incredible improvement in the Canadian junior and minor hockey programs over the last 15-20 years continuing to pay dividends within the Junior league players. Simply light years ahead of what it was in the 70's and early-mid 80's.
Now, the Canada vs. U.S rivalry takes on a completely different life both in Junior and Pro levels. The U.S has an ability to rise above any shortcomings its squad might (not always) has in skills to play it right to the end and to the max. Canada nevers takes the U.S for granted and probably never will given the record of performance of the U.S teams. Just look at least years result: U.S- Gold! and Canada- Silver.
That said, its all great hockey, these kids (understatement) are within months of making the NHL (many already have) and have yet to make their first million. The other interesting parts of the tournament are....no fighting (immediate/permanent ejection from the tournament), no touch icing (very smart....time to put that in the NHL).
Interestingly thinking of these teenagers (16-18yrs) as 'kids' or whatever. The defence for the Canadian team during final roster shakedown were averaging 6'-2" and 215 lbs......kids?....my as___! This isn't uncommon on any of these teams......talk about your Wheaties!!
Clearly....I'm ready to go! (I'll shut up for now...at least for a few posts!!)

I like the flag thing and the team that gets the farthest wins.

Just for the Americans that don,t follow the junior's . Your team just about took the tournament last year.So just about anything can happen.Don't be shy its fun and a good winter up lifter till spring.

If it sadly comes down to that, you will, of course, fly the Canadian flag below The United States Flag, right? A bet's a bet, but this is still our country. We can honor a bet without disgracing our flag.

I haven't really been up on hockey until the last couple of years because one of my mentors @ works grandson is Johnathan Miller for the US junior olympic team and is said to be one of the best the US has to offer @ this point he is being pimped by the Penguins and just about all other pro teams and colleges you can think of man is he proud of that boy.

Alright, as previously stated, I'm not actually a hocky fan nor fan of any spectator sport. I am, however, a team player. How does this bet sound... If The United States wins, all the Canadian members who accept this bet have to begin every post with the United States National anthem. If Canada wins... Ooh... All United States members who accept this bet have to begin every post with the Canadian National Anthem. This will last for 30 days. Any takers?
