I have a 50hp merc and I need to transport it in my car...what side is best to lie it down on, while in transport?
Does it make a difference?

Thanks,
Brother Chris.

Probably the right side looking at from the front...ya don't want to smash up the L/S electrical plug (guessing here, no year mentioned)..other than that, it don't matter...

Re: just a quick question...

sorry, don't know the year...it's around a 1995 though, for sure.
It's not a 4 stroke.
It's a pull start 50hp

Thanks,
Chris.

I Have a mariner 30; according to all I read on this forum there isn't much difference between that and a merc.
Now my handbook says. " DO NOT TURN ENGINE UPSIDE DOWN OR LAY ON ITS STARBOARD SIDE AS WATER COULD ENTER THE POWERHEAD

Re: just a quick question...

Would it not matter if it's a 4 stroke?

Yes...4 strokes must be laid on one side only..the oil thing. There are usually lugs on one side for that purpose, plus some sort of sticker
