I was sitting at the boat ramp today (great sport if you have a 6 pack) watching all the people put there boats in and take them out. Most people did a fine job.
This little rant is for the people who dont have a clue about boats and boat operation.
Thanks to all the people who power there boats onto the trailer with the lower unit almost completly out of the water. You will be calling me when your motor is over heating when the impeller is shot running it dry.
Thanks to the people who dont trim there motors up when putting in or pulling out. you will be calling me when you damge the lower unit from hitting the concrete ramp while powering up on your trailer or pulling the boat out of the water.
Thanks to the people who run through the no wake zones at full throttle you will be calling me when you hit the submerged rocks when you ignored the hazzard buoys with a torn up lower unit.
I would like to thank all the people who have made the payments on my truck and house over the years because they didnt use common sense.
Most of the guilty will get a little bit of a brake from me cause i am less expensive than most shops and I am honest in my dealings. Some shops might take advantage of an inexperianced boat owner and charge you double!

Takes a certain type of person who dotes on others misfortune. It's good to not be that type of person..

Ya know, if you can make money from other peoples stupidity why not, if you don't put forth the effort to learn how to use a machine you have and you wreck the machine as a consequence I am not gonna shead any tears for you.

Its not like he is at the launch telling people to abuse there boats, they do it on there own in blissful ignorance.

Why are you bumping it? Is there's a question somewhere in your post? Or is it just to promote your shop?

Its not misfortune when people dont take the time to learn about the very boats they are abusing. Not only do they put there boats in harms way but they put the people around them in danger as well.

I dont dote on others failures or misfortunes.
however the average owner can finance that 33 grady with a pair of Z300 motors but they simply cannot operate it correctly.
even though you spent 4 hours with a highlighter and the operators manual explaing EVERY page.
I try to explain to each and every customer how to properly maintain and operate as well as how to handle impacts and groundings so as not to increase or cause further damage.
it rarely works.

Re: Just a thankyou!

Ive asked people at the dock who are obviously having a tough time if they need assistance and most people accept my help (helps get my boat in the water faster).

There was this one time though a guy just about died of a heart attack when i asked him. He was the obvious new boater but his attitude was that no one was going to tell him how to do anything and that I should mind my own business. I smiled and said have a good time.
to make a long story short I am an E.M.T and happened to have my radio in my boat heard a page go out for the lake I was on and so since i was there I responded to the scene. So there was this guy sitting on the shore about 200 hundred feet from the dock. He hit some fish sticks in the water going way to fast. Threw his wife threw the front railing and destroying his 20ft 2010 sylvan pontoon boat. Both survived and were not seriously hurt.
Turns out this is the first boat ever owned or operated by this person. He had just picked up this boat that day. Wisconsin offers boating safety classes really inexpensive, but they dont teach people about good attitudes and the help each other out boating family. These are the people I dont feel sorry for and dont mind making money off of.
